The One Who Made Me a Mama

December 21, 2020

I can’t believe you’re 4!  When you were just a few days old, I was 100% occupied with cradling you in my arms – all day and all night.  Putting you down for a second or even allowing someone else to hold you was torture.  I treasured every literal second with you.  Everything in my life looked so different from the first moment I saw you.

One of those long afternoons spent soaking you in I heard a song that perfectly described how life felt with you.

The Brightest Hour

by The Submarines

Wandering through starry skies and when tomorrow’s day arrives

I’ll be a moment closer to the brightest hour here with you

One step closer, getting brighter

One step closer, getting brighter

Wandering through starry skies and when tomorrow’s day arrives

I’ll be a moment closer to the brightest hour here with you

Since you were just days old, this has been the song I sing to you every night.  As I hold you close to my chest, I marvel at how much you have grown.  My little girl, the one who made me a Mama.  You are the greatest gift, the bright light in my life.  I love your laughter, your imagination, your overflowing joy.  I love you more with every year that passes.  My devotion to you is powerful, all-consuming, and impossible to be comprehended in any rational way.
